Established on 20th December 1948, the Government Ayurvedic College and Hospital, Guwahati, stands as a proud testament to the spirit of post-independence nationalism and the dedication of visionary leaders like Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi, Dr. Jagdish Chandra Bhattacharya, and Dr. Bhubaneswar Baruah. As the first Ayurvedic college in the North East and the second government institute in Assam after Independence, the institution has been a pioneer in promoting Ayurveda as both a science and a way of life. From its humble beginnings in Uzan Bazaar to its current campus at Jalukbari, the college has grown into a Centre of Excellence, contributing significantly to the health sector with over 3000 Ayurvedic doctors and specialists across the region.
